Overnight San Blas Trip Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is It Recommended To Visit The San Blas Islands With Kids?

Absolutely, the San Blas Islands are kid-friendly. Children generally enjoy beaches, boat trips, and island explorations. We suggest that children be old enough to walk, as specialized baby facilities like cribs or high chairs are not available, and nursing a newborn on the islands may not be as comfortable due to the lack of facilities.

  • Can I bring My Luggage With Me?

Yes, however it depends. You can bring a maximum weight of 23kg per reservation. We can not accept large luggage suitcases.

We recommend you coordinate with your hotel or Airbnb to leave your luggages there where they will be dry and clean.

  • Is It Possible For Me To Drive To The San Blas Islands?

Public transport isn’t available to reach San Blas, and access is carefully managed by the local authorities and military. Personal vehicles or regular public transport are not allowed. The roads, which are very dangerous, claim numerous lives each year. It's crucial to heed our warnings. Sea San Blas provides roundtrip transportation from Panama City as part of your package.

  • What's The Reason For The Entrance Fee At San Blas?

Visitors must pay a fee at designated checkpoints on the road and port to enter the Guna Yala Comarca, which includes the San Blas Islands. This fee helps protect the abundant biodiversity of the Kuna Yala rainforests. The cost is $22 for international visitors and $7 for Panamanian nationals and residents.

  • How Much Money Should I Bring?

The San Blas region operates cash-only without ATMs or card payment facilities. Bring ample cash in US Dollars, ideally in $1 or $5 denominations, to buy snacks, water, and pay taxes since locals may not have enough change.

  • What Essential Items Should I Pack For My Overnight Trip?

Expect to spend the whole day exposed to the sun and sea breezes, so we advise dressing adequately for these conditions. Ensure the following essential items are packed:

    • Passport: Required entry to the Kuna Yala region; checks will occur.
    • Enough cash: In US Dollars for trip expenses, snacks, and souvenirs, small bills.

    Recommended additional items:

    Sun protection:

    • Essential for the island and boat trip (sunscreen, hat, sleeved shirt, towel).
    • Towels
    • Water for hydration: This is not included in your package, so bring or purchase it on-site.
    • Snacks
    • Swimming attire
    • Sandals or flip-flops
    • Waterproof bag: To protect valuables during possibly wet boat rides.
    • Flashlight
    • Spare clothing: This is for changes if wet and for potentially cooler evenings.
    • Snorkel gear (bring your own if you have it)

Use a waterproof bag for delicate items, as boat travel might be damp and rough. Keep your passport and cash handy during your inspection journey and cover the entrance fee upon reaching San Blas.

  • What's Your Cancellation Policy?

Sea San Blas offers a flexible cancellation/change policy. Please review our cancellation refund policy below:
